Semi-Skilled Handyman
Description

We are seeking an operational and reliable Semi-Skilled Handyman to be based in KZN. In this role, you will provide critical support to our Skilled Handymen and Facilities team by assisting with preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance across all company facilities, ensuring our properties remain safe, functional, clean, and well-maintained.

Responsibilities
  • General Maintenance Support: Carry out basic building repairs, routine facility inspections, and touch-up tasks (painting, wall patching, carpentry, and minor plumbing repairs like fixing leaks and unblocking drains).

  • Electrical & Specialised Division Support: Assist with electrical maintenance, conduit work, and replacing fittings under supervision. Provide hands-on maintenance support across Mortuaries, FSP Branches, Fleet facilities, and Warehouses.

  • Facilities Housekeeping & Asset Care: Maintain cleanliness and organization within maintenance stores and workshops; handle the loading, offloading, and transport of tools, materials, and equipment between sites.

  • Health, Safety & Emergency Response: Follow strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures, wear prescribed PPE, report unsafe conditions, and assist during emergency or after-hours maintenance call-outs.

  • Administration: Assist with completing job cards, tracking material stock levels, and supporting annual asset verification exercises.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in building maintenance or general handyman work, with proven experience safely using hand and power tools.
  • Basic understanding of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, and safe working practices.
  • Willingness to travel extensively between company sites and respond to urgent breakdowns.
  • An NQF Level 2–4 qualification in Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, or Building Maintenance will be an added advantage.
  • A valid driver's licence will be an added advantage.
