2. Job Purpose
The iTravel Manager leads, manages, and overseas the overall strategic, operational, financial and commercial performance of the Travel Management company. The role ensures operational excellence, profitable growth, exceptional client service delivery, and compliance with industry standards. The manager drives business development, optimise internal processes, and develops a high performing team aligned to organisational objectives.
3. Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership and Business growth
• Develop and execute the TMC’s strategic business plan
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansion
• Drive revenue growth through corporate sales, product diversification, and innovation
• Monitor industry and competitor trends to inform strategic decisions
Operational Management
• Oversee day to day operations, service delivery, and workflow efficiency
• Ensure service level agreements are met across all client accounts
• Implement and improve standard operating procedures
• Manage technology platforms (GDS,OBTs, CRM, reporting systems) to ensure efficiency and reliability
Financial Management
• Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and cost-control measures.
• Improve profitability through margin management and operational efficiency
• Oversee client billing, reconciliations, supplier contracts, and commercial agreements
• Monitor key financial indicators ( NPM, revenue per consultant, cost-to-income ratios)
Client Relationship and Account Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and travel suppliers
• Lead client engagement, contract renewals, and performance reviews
• Drive high customer satisfaction (CSAT) and retention of key accounts
• Resolve escalated client issues promptly and professionally
People leadership and Performance Management
• Lead, monitor, and manage teams across operations, sales, finance, and support functions
• Drive a culture of high performance, accountability, and employee engagement
• Implement training, development, and succession planning
• Conduct performance review cycles aligned with HR policies
Compliance, Risk and Governance
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (IATA, labour laws, data protection, financial controls)
• Manage business risks, operational audits, and safety protocols
• Uphold governance policies and ethical business practices

5. Qualifications
• Grade 12/ Matric essential
• Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, Business Management, Commerce or related field
• Postgraduate qualification (MBA or similar) advantageous
6. Experience
• 8-12 years in the Travel and Tourism industry
• Minimum 5 years in senior leadership/management roles in a TMC environment
• Proven record in business development, operations, and financial management
• Strong experience with GDS (Amadeus, Sabre), OBTs, and corporate travel systems
7. Working Conditions
• Office -based with occasional travel (supplier meetings, client visits, events)
• Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Extended hours may be required during peak periods or operational emergencies
